I am particularly drawn to his exploration of honoring traditions while breaking down the barriers often accompanying them…As the first Latino in a top artistic leadership role at the playhouse, I’m inspired by the fact that American Mariachi features the first all-Latino/x cast, playwright, and directing team in the Omaha Community Playhouse's 100-year history. While these achievements are significant, I hope we are not just a first but the first of many. Live theatre often introduces us to the unknown—new ideas, cultures, music, and perspectives.
